Stormont In Fine Win

Stormont was one of the most impressive performers in three qualifying heats run at trials held by the Mid-Canterbury Owners' and Breeders' Association at Meth ven yesterday The Stormy way three-year-old raced righ away from his opponents in the straight to win by seven lengths after taking 3rnin 24 2-ssec for the mite and a half, well inside the required 3mm 30 see. It was ar outstanding effort as the track was not fast, although it was in good order Stormont showed ability in two-year-old classics last season and he should soon develop useful form Another smart effort was recorded by Van Rush, which led from end to end in the first heat and recorded 3min 25sec Hr beat the Meadow Chief three vear-old. Peebles by half a length Van Rush is a f'-ur-vear old gelding bv Van Dieman from Gold Strike The second heat was won by Napoleon Hanover a three-year-old brother lo Lucky Dora. He finished lull of running and looks a likely type He took 3min 26 l-ssec for his mile and a half The four placed horses in all three heats al) recordc inside the required 3mm 30sec.
