N.Z. Breweries Named

New Zealand Breweries, LtdWellington, is understood to have made an offer to acquire the £985,000 paid share capital of Hancock and Company, Ltd., Auckland, by means of an exchange of shares. It already holds a substantial share of the capital. Hancock and Company, Ltd., owns a large chain of hotels in the Auckland province, including the Grand, Great Northern, and Waverley Hotels in Auckland, and operates one of the oldest wine and spirit businesses in the city. Fixed assets of the company exceed £2.000.000 in book values and it holds investments of approximately £250,000. Consolidated net profit in the year September 30, 1958. was £95,996 on a paid capita) of £925,000. A dividend of 9 per cent, was paid.
