TIMARU COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL CONTINUED

TIMARU, August 25. Included in the 54 classes completed today in the Timaru Competitions Society’s centennial festival were three centennial championships, seven events in which aggregate marks were awarded lor centennial championships, and three South Canterbury championships. The judges are: fancy dancing. Miss Dorothy Daniels (Wellington); national dancing. Mrs Shirley Ann Thomson (Wellington); speech. Mrs Sheila Marray (Wellington), vocal and instrumental, Mr Geo. Wilkinson. „ , The New Zealand reel o tulloch championship (under 16) was won on Monday evening by Rhondda Webb, of Christchurch. The junior centennial championship (under 13) in the tap dance w'as won by Lynne Robinson, of Christchurch. The winner of the centennial championship with aggregate points for under 12 competitors in the highland fling and sword dance was Lynda Rogers, of Upper Hint, with 136'2 points. Janice Rae 'Christchurch), 135 points, was second, and Judith McKay (Tautapere) 133'2 points was third. Entries tor the South Canterbury championship sword dance, open to competitors of any age, totalled 11. This evetit was won by Patience McEvedy, ot S'udholme. Today’s results were:— Tap Dance.
