United Party Loses More
JOHANNESBURG, August 22 A total of 12 members of Parliament have now resigned from South Africa’s United Party in a serious major split in party policy. The rift, which has divided the Opposition United Party into liberal and conservative factions, came after a sharp clash over a party resolution opposing further land purchases for African areas scheduled to become semiindependent areasThe resolution was adopted at • recent national United Party Congress at Bloemfontein.
