The appointment of Judge K. G. Archer as chairman of the Licensing Control Commission was announced by the Minister of Justice (Mr Mason) on Saturday.

Judge Archer, whose appointment becomes effective from September 1, will take the place of Mr A. M. Goulding. Mr Goulding’s appointment expired in May last, but he has been carrying on as chairman pending a permanent appointment.

Judge Archer is the Judge of the Land Valuation Court, and also holds a number of other offices. He will be able to undertake the chairmanship of the Licensing Control Commission in conjunction with his present offices.

Mr Mason said the Gpvemment was at present reviewing the functions of the Licensing Control Commission.
