QUATRE BRAS CUP
Southland Beats Marlborough
Southland won the Quatre Bras Cup when it beat Marlborough, 4-2 in the final of the South Island Minor Associations’ championship at Williamson Park on Saturday. The match was played as a curtain-raiser to the Shield Challenge game between Canterbury and Otago. The match was virtually decided in the first half when Southland built up a lead of three goals, and although Marlborough made a determined effort In the second spell the margin was too great. Play was very fast, and the territorial exchanges were more even than the score suggested. The Southland goals were scored by H. Eastwood, D. Brown. P. Tillard and D. Hughes, while R. Wefctman and D. Petherbridge scored for Marlborough. Umpires:—Messrs B. Lloyd and S. I Swift.
