Golf CANTERBURY TEAM WINS
Match With N.Z. Universities
The Canterbury golf team proved too strong for New Zealand Universities in a match played at the Waimairi Beach links on Saturday. None of the Canterbury players lost games, although I. A. McEwan did well to finish all square with R. C. Murray in the singles. Canterbury fielded a Freyberg Rosebowl team, with the two New Zealand representatives. R. J. Charles and Murray. In their game against Foxton ’ and Clements, the University pair. W. McK. Kerr and D. C. Crombie were rather unlucky to lose after being 2 up at the turn. Results were ( Canterbury names first):—
Foursomes.—R. J. Charles and R. C. Murray beat C. G. Munro and I. A. McEwan, 5 and 3: K. D. Foxton and R. E. Clements beat D. C. Crombie and M. McK. Kerr, 1 up; M. W. Stanley and C W Caldwell beat C. S. Burridge’ and T W Coxon, 6 and 4. Singles.—Foxton beat Crombie. 2 and 1; Clements beat Kerr. 4 and 2: Stanley beat Burridge. 1 up: Caldwell beat Coxon, 3 and 2: Charles beat Munro 3 and 2; Murray and McEwan, all square.
