GAOL FOR ARSON ATTEMPTS
Gisborne Workman Sentenced
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, August 23.
Tex Rexcie, aged 28, workman, of Gisborne, was sentenced to imprisonment for two years and 10 months in the Magistrate’s Court at Napier on two charges of attempted arson. Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., said In sentencing Rexcie that he took into consideration the fact that he had been in custody for two months.
Rexcie was convicted on July 3 on charges of having attempted to set fire to the Napier Intermediate School and to a hut in the Napier railway yards. On two other charges of wilfully damaging windows at Napier business premises and on another of unlawfully converting a bicycle to his own use Rexcie was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each, to be served concurrently with the sentence for attempted arson.
