CONFERENCE REMITS
Motion Lost
When a motion was put forward at the annual conference of the Association of New Zealand Car Clubs in Christchurch yesterday that all remits to the conference should be in the form of recommendations V h / executive, Mr B. H. Paton (Windsor Motor Club) said that legally, no such action should be taken.
In reply to Mr I. Daikee (Motor Racing Club) Mr Paton said it had been noted that the association had been out of order for the last 12 years. “If we go much further we will have our heads chopped off. If Mr Daikee is prepared to see that happen it is up to him.” Mr H. J. Williams (Southland Sports Car Club): We are here for the good of motor sport and not for the good of the legal profession of New Zealand.
I didn’t come here to listen to this sort of argument,” said Mr W H. Knox, chairman of the Auckland International Grand Prix. "We are now in the position to set ourselves constitutionally right. I won’t criticise what has gone on In the past, but let us get on the right footing." Mr Paton then asked the chairman (Mr R. W. A. Frost) to ask Mr Williams to withdraw his remark about the legal profession. Mr Williams withdrew, and the motion was lost.
