ACCIDENT AT BAKHRA DAM
Nine Feared Drowned
NEW DELHI, August 23
Nine men, including an overseer, were feared drowned in flooding of the galleries and power house being built at India's giant Bakhra dam in the Punjab. News of the accident was given to Parliament yesterday by the Minister for Irrigation and Power (Mr Hafiz Mohammed Ibrahim). He said part of the structure of the hoist chamber controlling the regulating gates had failed.
