Girl Guide Camp At Cracroft House

Cracroft House and its grounds will be the home for at least four companies of girl guides during part of the August school holidays. About 50 guides from as far afield as Taieri will live in the house or camp Hinder canvas next week. The first Taieri Air Force Girl Guides Company will arrive at Cracroft House on Monday. The 12 guides worked hard to raise £2O for the trip. During their four days in Christchurch the guides will see places of interest in the city. From Timaru, a company of three rangers and their captain will visit the camp. Local groups include a New Brighton company of 20 guides and three guiders and a 15-year-old Somerfield girl will lead a group of five guides. Some of the guides will work for a test while at Cracroft House If they prove that they know how to manage canvas and cooking and can cope with any health problems that might arise they will be qualified to lead a group of not more than six guides on a camping expedition.
