Canterbury Men Win Ciant Slalom
(New Zeaiana Press Association) INVERCARGILL. August 21. The final event of the New Zealand University ski-ing championships, the giant slalom, was run today at Coronet Peak under ideal conditions. The Canterbury men’s team took the honours with some fine individual runs to beat Otago by less than a second. The Otago women’s team recorded a comfortable win over Canterbury and carried off the combined events title. The final result of the tournament gives both the Otago men’s and women’s teams the combined titles as well as the Malcolm Mace memorial trophy for the best men's slalom team. Today’s results were:— Giant Slalom.—Men: Canterbury, 3min 9sec, 1; Otago, 3min 9.955ec. 2: Lincoln, 4min 28sec, 3: Auckland, 4min 38.1 sec. 4. Women: Otago, 3min 47.255ec. 1; Canterbury, 3min 51 Isec 2: Victoria (Wellington), 4mm 27355ec, 3; Auckland. 6min 2.955ec, 4 Combined Downhill Slalom and Giant Slalom—Men: Otago 1, Canterbury 2, Lincoln 3, Victoria 4, Auckland 5. Women: Otago 1, Canterbury 2, Auckland 3.
