Junior Solo Titles

The annual junior solo championships of the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association were held in Christchurch yesterday. There were nearly 150 entries in six sections of up to 17 years of age. In the A section of 15 years and under 17, there were 52 entries. The B section for 13 years and under 15 had 64 entries, and 22 took part in C section for boys under 13. Nine groups were entered in the quartet section. Results were:— A Section (cornets and flugels only), Judge, Mr R. Simpson.—P. R. Bowman (Addington Workshops), 79. 1; I. Doak, was awarded the McLeod Shield Trophy.
