BODY FOUND IN PIT
Boy Missing At Petone (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 2. The body of an eight-year-old boy who had been missing from his home in Petone since Friday afternoon was found by the police in a sewer pit close to McEwan park, shortly after 11 a.m. today. He was Leslie Wilson Walker, a son of Mr and Mrs R. L. Walker, of Adelaide street, Petone. The discovery followed a fullscale search in which police and more than 100 civilians took part. Searchers, who believed the boy may have fallen into the sewer pit after seeing signs which aroused their suspicions, got in touch with a radio patrol car and the police discovered the body The police said tonight there were no suspicious circumstances. It appeared the boy had drowned A post-mortem examination is to be held
