Breaches Of Drug Regulations (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 1. Mr J. S. Hanna, S.M., imposed a total of £340 in fines on William Matthew Carson, chemist, of Beach road. Paekakariki. after he had pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington to 15 charges laid under the Dangerous Drug Regulations, the Poisons Act, and the Food and Drug Regulations. Carson did not appear, but was represented by Mr S. G. Smith. Mr J. D. Murray prosecuted for the Crown.
The charges laid under the Dangerous Drugs Regulations were: failing to enter the purchase of dangerous drugs in the licensee's register (five charges); failing to enter the dispensing or supply of dangerous drugs in the same register (three charges*; and failing to record the actual stock of all dangerous drugs in his possession at the close of business at December 31, 1956, and to prepare a quantity stock account covering previous stocktaking, and to enter in the stock account a proper explanation of any variation between the calculated balance and the actual stock (five charges). The charge under the Poisons Act was that of failing to keep the prescriptions book in a place of security on his business premises.
The remaining charge under the Food and Drug Regulations was that the accused used premises for the preparation and storage or packing of drugs when the premises were not clean.
