PUBLISHING FIRM APPOINTMENT
Wliitcombe And Tombs Editor
Mr David N l . Lawson, of Auckland, has been appointed editor in charge of book publishing activities for Whitcombe and Tombs. Ltd. He succeeds the late Mr Carl Straubel. Mr Lawson is acting literary editor and drama critic of the "Auckland Star." He was born in Wellington, and served on the
literary staffs of the ‘‘Evening Post,” Wellington, “Manawatu .Evening Standard" and ‘‘Melbourne Herald" before going to the ‘‘Auckland Star” in 1955 as a leader writer. Under a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Mr Lawson spent the 1957-58 academic year at Harvard University as an Associate Nieman Fellow. Mr Lawson, who is married with three children, will take up his position at the company’s head office in Christchurch early this month.
