GUARD'S VAN BURNT OUT
Early Morning Blaze At Greymouth <From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, August 2. The Greymouth Volunteer Fire Brigade answered a call shortly after 5 o’clock this morning to a burning guard's van which was standing on the railway line on the wharf opposite Albert street. The fire was discovered by a milk roundsman, and it had a good hold by the time the brigade arrived on the scene. The doors of the van were closed, and it is thought the fire originated in the coal-burning heater inside. About one-third of the van was burnt out. the steel sides being buckled and part of the roof burnt.
