ENGINEERS’ UNION CONFERENCE
Move To Reduce Accidents (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July’ 19. The New Zealand Engineers’ Union at its annual conference in Wellington decided to ask the Government to call a conference of all interested to discuss ways of reducing the accident toll in industry. The conference instructed the national office to make a survey of the number of women employed in industries associated with the uqion, so as to prepare a case for equal pay.
The conference defeated a remit that the union disaffiliate from the Labour Party and another that it disaffiliate from the Federation of Labour.
