RECORD CROWD SEES TEST
Many Outside Ground <New Zealand Press association) DUNEDIN, July 19. A record crowd of more than 50,000 saw the first test at Dunedin on Saturday, but only 41.500 passed through the turnstiles. The rest of the crowd was outside the Carisbrook fences on the railway embankment and on the Scotsman’s grandstand on the hill overlooking the ground. Those who entered the ground paid £20,500. The Lions have now been watched by about 250,000 persons in their eight matches in this country, and the tour is nearly paid. for. The budget was for £53,000.
The Lions left Dunedin by air this afternoon for Christchurch. They will traveL- to Greymouth by bus tomorrow.
