MAN FINED FOR IMPERSONATION
Claimed He Was Detective
(New Zealand Preus Association) WELLINGTON. July 19. Because Gordon Robert Richardson, aged 34. a workman, was dissatisfied with the men his wife was associating with, he borrowed the title of “detective from the C. 1.8.” when conducting inquiries as to her whereabouts. His counsel, Mr A. T. S McGhie, said this in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington today after Richardson had pleaded guilty to impersonating a police officer. The Magistrate (Mr B. S Barry, S.M.) imposed a fine of £lO. The police prosecutor (Mr K. O. Evans) said the accused called at houses at Island Bay and said he was a detective from the Wellington C. 1.8 On his suggestion, Richardson had been allowed to search a house.
