Crock Dies
SAN REMO, July 17. Grock. the clown who brought mirth to millions, has died m Italy, aged 79. The little Swiss, born Charles Adrien Wettach, a man who gave the world so much, died at the San Remo villa where he retired to read, fish and cultivate his garden five years ago. Grock started clowning professionally in Swiss market places when he was 11. He was already famous in his mid-twenties as a natural genius in the delicate arts of mime and the more robust skills of knockabout. For more than 60 years he travelled the world on missions of mirth.
