A PROUD MOTHER.—-Margaret, the proud mother of one cygnet, for which she has waited five years. Each year, with her mate, George, she has built a nest on a marsh near the Delme Arms Inn at Fareham, Hampshire, but each year they have been robbed of their eggs. Three times their nest has been washed away, once Water rats bored under the nest and stole the eggs, and another time boys robbed the nest. Now, at the sixth attempt, the swan has hatched one cygnet, and she has one more egg.
