INVASION OF PANAMA
Cubans Found Not Guilty
(Rec. 10 p.m.) PANAMA CITY, June 24.
The Superior Tribunal yesterday acquitted 89 Cubans of charges of trying to overthrow the Panamanian Government in an invasion last April.
The Court ruled that because they surrendered the Cubans were not guilty of the charges under Panamanian law.
The judgment did not mention Dr. Roberto Arias (husband of the British ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn) who is still awaiting safe conduct to Brazil from the sanctity of the Brazilian Embassy. Dr. Arias allegedly organised the thwarted invasion, according to Panamanian authorities.
