Parents’ Consent I “Unnecessary” (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 23. The Marlborough Hospital Board in written submissions to the consultative committee on infant and pre-school health services today advocated legislation to permit blood transfusion and other medical and surgical treatment of children without parents' consent being necessary. The board stated that parents often refused consent for urgent treatment because of their religious or other beliefs. An example was the opposition of Jehovah's Witnesses to blood transfusion.
