N.Z. Filly Has Good Win
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, June 21. The New Zealand trainer G. S. Walton is convinced he lias a topclass galloper with the tillly. Legato, winner of the two-year-old Graduation Stakes at Rosehill yesterday. "Legato has not eaten a lull meal since she arrived in Australia and has not done well in her work at Canterbury,” Walton said after the race. "She is an excitable filly and after the float Hip to Hie course and before going out lor the race she was a lather of sweat." he said. Yesterday Legato was having only her third start and her second in Sydney. Backed from 14-1 to 8-1, and ridden by the successful apprentice. F. Hodder, she finished strongly after securing a rails run to beat Sands <6-11 by a length and a quarter. Damnut (12-1), which was two lengths away third, beat the 3-1 favourite Port Kar in a photo for the minor placing. Although sl.e came in from double figures the only big bets noted against. Legato were £lOOO to £7O and £lOOO to £lOO.
