PRIZE IN ESSAY COMPETITION
Award To Linwood
High School Pupil
An upper-sixth form pupil of Linwood High School, Gordon Henry Bennett, has won first prize and a silver medal in the Royal Commonwealth Society’s annual A grade essay competition. The subject of the essay was that “Britain is at once strengthened and weakened in Europe and world affairs by her Commonwealth ties.” Gordon Bennett, who is a school prefect, has been sent a congratulatory letter by the secre-tary-general of the society. The competition was open to all pupils in Commonwealth countries.
