MISSING MAN UNTRACED
Police Appeal To
Public
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 27.
Police in Wellington still have no information regarding Harold Alleyne Guise Barrett, aged 55, who disappeared from the interislahd express steamer Hinemoa during its passage from Wellington' to Lyttelton on Saturday night. Tonight, Inspector C. E. Tanner, said the police would appreciate any information as to the possible whereabouts of Mr Barrett or of his movements before the Hinemoa sailed.
Mr Barrett was thought to be going to visit friends in the South Island. When the Hinemoa berthed at Lyttelton, his wallet and some belongings were found in his allotted berth. No’ reason is yet known for a deliberate disappearance. Nor is there any evidence that Mr Barrett fell over the side during the ship’s transit.
