TAX CUT IF LOAN FILLS
Suggestion Made By Minister
. (New Zeatana Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 27. If the Government’s current £l5 million works loan was fully subscribed it would increase the chances of “worthwhile" tax deductions in the coming Budget, the Minister bl Finance (Mr Nordmeyer) said in- a broadcast tonight. So far, £4,330.000 has been received from 700 applicants. The loan will close on June 12. Mr Nordmeyer said the loan was to finance part of this year’s huge development programme. Any curtailment of this programme could have serious effects "not only now but in the future.”
He added that £l5 million was not a large sum—considering the extent of the programme—and was certainly within the capacity of the investing public:
