INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
Course Starts In City Today A week’s course in industrial safety will start for 60 works managers, personnel managers, supervisors and safety officers, in Christchurch this morning. The course, the first to be held in the South Island, will be similar to those held in Auckland in May last year and February this year. It has been organised by the National Safety Association of New Zealand. Those attending the course have come from all over New Zealand and are staying at the Helen Connon hostel of the University of Canterbury where the course is being held.
Representatives from private firms and the Marine, Health, Mines, Broadcasting and Works departments are attending the course. They will receive instruction in all aspects of public safety from accident psychology and work safety organisation, to safety inspection and fire prevention.
During the course a visit will be made to plants in the city and hazard spotting inspections will be made. A demonstration will be given in the stresses of materials laboratory at the University of Canterbury.
