Beef Shorthorn Stud Sale
“The Press" Special Service WYNDHAM, May 16. Up to 530gns was paid for males and 300gns for females at the dispersal sale of the Crescent beel Shorthorn stud ot Mr Peter Campbell, of Wyndham. Buyers from many parts of Southland, Otago, Canterbury and the Waikato attended the sale. The Crescent stud was established in 1906 and was recognised as one of the best in the country. The cows and heifers in the offering had all depastured with the imported Tasmanian stud sire, Exton Lord Nelson. This bull was purchased by Mr B E Pinckney, of Edendale, for 530gns. The top price for females was 300gns paid for a 2y 2 -year-old heifer. The buyer was Mr R. Pinney (Port Chalmers). A South Canterbury buyer, Mr J. Geaney, paid 250gns for a four-year-old cow. The heifer jcalf from tnis cow realised 220gns. I Twenty mature cows realised an (average of 136'2gns (top price 250gns), 7 2’,2-year-old heifers averiaged 161V2&ns (top price 300gns), 8 I*2-year-old heifers averaged 95gns (top price 150gns), 7 heifer calves averaged 146V 2 gns (top price 220gns). 6 bull calves averaged 90gns (top price 125gns), and the three-year-<old imported Dull made 530gns.
