More than three inches of rain has fallen there in the last 3b hours. The main Masterton-Welling-ton highway has water nine inches deep across it from the Maungatarere river on the north side of the Waiohine river bridge between Carterton and Greytown. Cars were still able to get through tonight though water was still rising. The Rimutaka hill road was blocked for a period this afternoon by a slip near the top where the road is being widened. It has since been reopened to one-way traffic. The Wairarapa Catchment Board has issued a moderate flood warning for the area 4
