TEAM TO TOUR AUSTRALIA
Squad To Train At Invercargill (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, May 14. A training squad of 21 players to form the nucleus of the New Zealand representative basketball team to tour Australia in 1960 will be chosen at the New Zealand tournaments in Invercargill and Nelson in August of this year. Associations, however, have the right to nominate additional players for trials to be held early in 1960. From these trial games the 10 players to tour Australia will be chosen. This was decided by delegates at the New Zealand Basketball Association's annual council meeting in Napier today. Delegates decided the touring team would include 10 players, a coach, and a manager—l2 in all. The team will be chosen by three New Zealand selectors, who will attend the first and third grade tournament in Invercargill and the second and fourth grade tournament at Nelson in August. The final selection of the team will be made at trial games at Wellington at the Queen's Birthday-week-end in 1960.
