THE 45,000-TON P. and O. PASSENGER LINER CANBERRA, which is being built at the Belfast shipyard of Harland and Wolff, is the biggest to be built in the United Kingdom since the Queen Elizabeth. These illustrations show the Canberra as she will appear when completed next year, and work in progress at the shipyard. The keel was laid down in September, 1957. The Canberra is intended for the British-Australia run and the trans-Pacific service to North America. Regular calls will be made at Auckland. The new liner will carry 600 first class and 1650 tourist class passengers.
