Burnside Stock Sale
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 13. The total fat sheep yarding at today’s Burnside sale was 2743, down 550 on last week. The composition of the yarding was the reverse of last week’s. With the previous adverse sale for ewes, numbers were far short of requirements, and values naturally showed a large improvement, the best sheep being 8s to 10s better. In the wether section there were many consignments of early shorn good quality two-tooths, and in face of this large selection, buyers could afford to be selective and consequently prices showed a sharp drop of 7s to Bs. In the fat lamb section, the total only amounted to 82. The quality was generally only average quality, however; there were few lambs sold under 50s.
Quotations:—Prime heavy hoggets and young wethers, 62s Id to 66s Id: prime. 53s Id to 58s Id; prime medium, 42s Id to 48s Id; light, from 35s Id.
