WORK OF NURSES IN COUNTRY
Recognition Would Boost Popularity (New Zealand Prese Association) ROTORUA, May 8. If more recognition were giverf to hospital matrons and nurses for the work they did in country districts the country positions would be more popular, the chairman of the Waikato Hospital Board, Mr George Smith, said today. Mr Smith was speaking to delegates at the New Zealand registered Nurses’ Association conference at Rotorua.
Commenting on the shortage of matrons and registered nurses in the Waikato Board’s district, Mr Smith said more recognition should be given by the Minister of Health or Health Department to the conditions matrons and nurses worked under.
The board was at present looking after matrons, sisters and nurses as well as possible.
