STRENGTH OF ORDER INCREASING

(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, May 6. Membership of the Manchester Unity 1.0.0. F. is steadily growing in New Zealand, according to a report submitted to the national conference of the movement in Napier yesterday by the board of directors.
The total strength of the Order at the end of 1957 was 23,020, an increase of 4000 in the previous six years. The membership represents 33 per cent, of the total strength of friendly societies in New Zealand.
The conference yesterday set up a committee to investigate ways of further increasing membership.
Officers elected were:— Grand Master for New Zealand, Mr G. C. Laws, of Napier; Deputy Grand Master, Mr M. F. Smith, of Auckland; national directors, Messrs H. W. Gourlay and R. G. Knowles, of Canter- ! bury, G. H. Thomas, of Napier, |H. Gilhooly, of Taranaki, M. F. J. M. Clarke, of Auckland, and W. A. Stephens, of Nelson; trustee for New Zealand, Mr C. G. Turner, of Wellington.
