W.E.A. PLANS FOR YEAR
The Workers’ Educational Association has plans for a large number of courses this year, some of which will start early next month. These include practical courses in painting, floral art, dressmaking, dresscutting and designing and basketwork. Afternoon and evening courses will be held in all these subjects, if sufficient entries are received. Painting is particularly popular: it is expected that three classes will be held, with a total of about 60, beginners and more experienced students, taking part. Three two-day schools will probably be held in March, in floral art, interior decoration and millinery; These have proved very popular in the past, and a large number of applications are expected. The general lecture courses will start after Easter, in music, languages and a number of other subjects. The association plans to run a second-year course in Russian, but more- enrolments will be needed if the course is to be a success:
A new language course, in Spanish, is likely to be started this year. There has been very little teaching of Spanish in New Zealand before, and it Is expected that this course will be well supported.
