Company News C.F.M. ANNUAL MEETING
The directors’ report and state T ment of accounts were received and adopted, and the directors’ recommendations for dividends were approved by the annual meeting of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Ltd., which was held in Christchurch last week. In speaking to the report and statement of accounts, the chairman (Mr John Deans) drew the attention of the shareholders to various factors which might adversely affect the company’s operations during the current year. He said that prices for lamb in the United Kingdom had been falling rapidly in the last few weeks. Prices for casings had shown a very heavy decline, the net return on the early production of this by-product being estimated at 50 per cent, to 55 per cent, below that of the previous year, said Mr Deans. The retiring directors, Messrs L. D. Cotterill and S. E. Mair, were re-elected to the board. Personal. —Mr Elliot Scott, manager of the Christchurch branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., is to accompany the New Zealand trade mission to Australia in April.
