Plans are in hand for dollarearning shipments of chilled New Zealand lamb to the west coa«t of the United States following news of the success of an experimental shipment to Los , Angeles. The Auckland. Farmers’ Freezing Company, which sent a very small shipment ot a range ot chilled lamb in the Saracen, has received cabled advice from Los Angeles that the lamb was ’’well received and arrived in excellent condition.” The, company now plans a larger shipment An earlier experimental shipment deteriorated during the trip. The potential value of • this latest shipment can be realised when it is remembered that New Zealand is only feeling its way With chilled lamb shipments. Only frozen lamb is sent to the United '--Kingdom. The lamb was included in a 600-ton shipment of New Zealand meat which has arrived at Los Angeles. It comprised 1079 quarters, plus 85 sides of chilled beef. The whole shipment was worth about £132/100.
