EARTHQUAKES IN PAPUA
(Rec. 11 p.m.) , PORT MORESBY. January 22. Cyclonic winds along the Queensland coast are believed to have had their effect on Papua in the form of increased earth movements Mr J. Brooks, at the Port Moresby observatory, said today that recorded earth movement had been registered as erratic violent lines on the recording chart. In the middle of all the vibration. an earthquake had been felt, but its influence was lost in a maze of violent lines. Mr Brooks said storms were often tracked by means of recorded earth movements.
