SCRAP STEEL MILL
British Firms Join Venture (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 21. Two large British steel companies are to join with ’ Fletcher Holdings and Industrial Metals, Ltd., and other New Zealand investors iq establishing a scrap metal mill in .Auckland. The British companies are Colvilles, Ltd., and Stewarts and Lloyds. “A simultaneous announcement to this effect is being made in the United Kingdom by the two British companies today," said Mr J. C. Fletcher, managing-director of Fletcher Holdings, Ltd., sponsor of Pacific Steel, Ltd., the company organised to design, build, and operate the rolling mill, today. "Negotiations have been going on in Britain for some time now, said Mr Fletcher, “and we are delighted to have these two wellknown British organisations with us as partners in this new enterprise.” Consultants are being engaged to draw up detailed plans of the proposed steel works.
