National Bias
Sir,—Rome was destroyed by the Huns. No doubt a policy of defeatism preached by the Ralph S. Wheelers of the day helped to break the morale of the Romans. Modern or Anglo-Saxon civilisation has, however, learned, that preparedness and high morale are an effective deterrent to Hunnish aims.—Yours, etc., T. E. SHAW. Westport, January 19, 1959.
