New Season’s Lamb Quoted New season’s Canterbury lamb was quoted at Smithfield market last week for the first time this season. The latest advice from the Imported Meat Trade Association quotes first quality under 281 b at 29id per lb and 29-361 b at 27|d per lb. Second quality under 281 b was 27Jd per lb and 29-361 b at 26d. Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes showed no change apart from under 481 b which fell by Id to sell at 16d per lb. The only change in ewes was at 49-561 b selling at IOJd per lb, a rise of Id. First quality Canterbury lamb at 37-421 b fell by Jd to sell at 21$d per lb. There was a fall of Id per lb in first quality 43-501 b which sold at 18£d. There were better prices for frozen beef. First quality ox hinds at 145-1601 b rose by id to sell at 22id per lb. Fores at 145-2101 b sold at 19Jd per lb, a rise of Id. Prices for New Zealand meat (ex hooks.
