Fire Control Officer Retires

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 14. The responsibility of protecting 14,000,000 acres of rural and forest land from fire ended today for the Forest Service’s fire control officer (Mr W. F. Wright) who retired this afternoon after 40 years’ service in the department. Mr E. R. Blake, formerly senior ranger for ,the Rotorua Forest Conservancy, succeeds him.
