G. O. Rabone's Great Cricketing Career
rpHE retirement of G. O. Rabone * from first-class-cricket will be regretted throughout the country. He was not the most accomplishedlooking batsman, his bowling looked rather laboured, but New Zealand has had few more determined players, or more pleasant personalities. For the last few seasons Rabone has been the senior representative player, for his first-class career began as long ago as the 1940-41 season, although he is now only 37 years old. But he had only occasional appearances before his somewhat dramatic selection for the New Zealand tour of England in 1949.
