VISIT OF U.S. ARMY GROUP
Territorials To Be Seen Training
An American Army delegation will inspect South Island territorial units on their annual manoeuvres this month.
The five officers comprising the delegation—from United States units in Hawaii—are being exchanged with a group of New Zealanders for a month from January 15. / The Americans will inspect Burnham Military Camp on the morning of January 27 and visit the 123rd battery of the 12th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment which will be in the camp. In the afternoon they will visit A and C squadrons of the Ist Armoured Car Regiment training at West Melton.
The following day the Americans will go to the South Island army manoeuvre area at Lake Tekapo and on January 29 they will visit the Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast Regiment, the Ist Casualty Clearing station and 3rd Infantry Workshops units in camp.
Arrangements have been made for the party to visit the Hermitage and Southern Lakes region and Akaroa before going to the North Island and inspecting army establishments and tourist centres there.
