Reid Heads Batting And Bowling
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 13. The value of J. R. Reid to Wellington cricket is illustrated in the Wellington Plunket Shield team's averages. Reid tops the batting and bowling averages for the side. He has scored 433 runs, with an average of 72.16. Two not outs have helped to bolster his average. Reid was taken 16 wickets for 226 runs, at an average of 14.12. The only other batsman to score more than 200 runs is A. H. Preston, who has made 251. at an average of 35.89.
Third In the batting averages is the colt, B. A. G. Murray, who from two innings has an average of 26.50. Next to Reid in the bowling is the left-arm spinner, L. C. Butler, who has taken 18 wickets for 302 runs, at an average of 16.77. R. W. Blair, who has taken most wickets with 24, has an average of 18.56.
