NEW AIRPORT BUILDING
Installation Of C.A.A. Equipment
A party of Civil Aviation Administration technicians arrived in Christchurqh yesterday to install technical equipment in the new airport terminal buildings at Harewood. A certain amount of technical work was done on the job before the Christmas holidays and the present work is a continuation of it.
Until the control cab construction has finished most of the technicians’ work will comprise cabling through the building.
As soon as the cab has been glassed in and completed, major installations of modern electric and electronic consoles will be made. This is not expected- for two or three months.
Meantime, the Post and Telegraph Department is installing a hew teleohone exchange in the terminal building,
Grass Fire.— A grass fire on the property of Mrs E. Summers, 14 Tovey street, New Brighton, was extinguished by units from the New Brighton and Central fire brigades shortly after 10 ajn. yesterday. No damage waa caused.
