Woodend Beach Gala
The miniature train and candy floss stall at the Woodend beach gala were not run by the Woodend gala committee, said the secretary of the committee, Mr G. F. Sheppard, yesterday, commenting on a letter by Bertha M. Searle complaining about the charges for the miniature train rides. These two attractions were controlled by an independent operator who had been granted permission by the Woodend Domain Board. “The gala committee regrets that the impression may have been given that these two attractions were organised by it. Rather than cause any ill-feeling on the day, however, no statement to this effect was made over the speaker system,” said Mr Sheppard.
