R. Kanhai Makes 203 Not Out
(N.Z. Press Association-Copyright) CALCUTTA, December 31. An innings of 203 not out by 23-year-old R. Kanhai, gave the West Indies a flying start against India in the third test match, which began today. Kanhai figured in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 179 in 144 minutes with 24-year-old B. Butcher. Both come from British Guiana. At .the close of play, Kanhai had been at the wicket for a little less than five hours and had scored 34 boundaries. Butcher was 87 not out. India was unlucky to lose its captain and leading off-spinner, Ghulam Ahmed, early in the innings. He dislocated the little finger of his right hand while trying to stop a hard drive oft his own bowling. Scores: WEST INDIES
